ARTAEFAKT was founded by Doreen Schumacher in 2021. Schumacher, a trained architect, and interior designer set out to create a market space for local and handmade design goods which are not only timeless but also complementary to a variety of interior styles.
ARTAEFAKT is an extension of Schumacher’s personal aesthetic, which combines a Scandinavian minimalistic sensibility with design inspirations accumulated over decades from Southern Africa, Ibiza, Indonesia, and beyond.
The first to launch on the ARTAEFAKT platform is the Mirror collection, a set of five arched standing mirrors mounted on birch wood, and powder coated in various colour ways.
More product lines are in the pipelines and will include lamps and ceramics, among others.
